Copenhagen may be one of the last major European cities to get a metro, but the station design by KHRAS is exemplary. The stations make little impact on the existing city. They are models of clarity of route from street to platform and vice versa. The carefully co-ordinated repertoire of fittings is both robust and unobtrusive. Above all, the jury was impressed by the way in which daylight is carefully introduced to emphasize the route. To add delight, the pyramidal rooflights, through prisms, project small rainbows into the depths of the earth. Contact: Nille Juul-Sørensen, KHRAS Architects Tel: Fax: Email: |
